Do you work for Marie Kondo?

The short answer: no. The long answer: I’m a KonMari Consultant in Training undergoing an intensive training program to become one of her consultants. Ms. Kondo is assembling a crew of independent consultants across the world to carry out her mission of increasing the number of people living joyful lives through organizing their homes. I’m not an employee and I won’t be one when I’m done training—I’m my own #girlboss and am hard at work in becoming a full-fledged KonMari Consultant so that I may more fully continue her mission to Organize The World™!

How long does a tidying festival take?

Well, that’s on you and your dedication, girlfriend! It is recommended that your tidying festival be completed quickly to avoid rebounding to a cluttered state.

That depends on a number of factors:

●      The time you are able to commit to the lessons. Each lesson is 5 hours long. I recommend that you do not allow more than 30 days to pass between lessons.

●      How quickly you make decisions.

●      The number of things you have to sort through and “joy check.”

●      How willing you are to complete homework between each session.

What does it mean to spark joy™?

Imagine a thing in your home that you love. Maybe a top or a pair of pants you love to wear. That feeling you get, that thrill and excitement when you are getting dressed to go out and realize it’s available for you to put on right now—that is what it means for something to spark joy. It’s a personal experience about what thrills you.
The reason all your clothes don’t spark joy is because, simply enough, you’ve kept ones that don’t!

Will the KonMari Method™ turn me into a minimalist?

No. Minimalism is a lifestyle choice in which you choose to live with few material things. The KonMari Method™ teaches you how to keep what sparks joy™ for you and does not encourage you to get rid of most of your things.
